Method for inspecting appearance of welding trace

Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find at high the position of a welding trace formed at the time of welding at high speed and to reduce erroneous discrimination of a normal/ defective condition of the welding trace. SOLUTION: In a gradation image containing a welding trace 9 stored in a storage device inside an image processor, a ternary coding process is performed so as to determine a level of luminance for a welding trace, finding the formation position of the welding trace 9 by the degree projection 10, 11 in the vertical and horizontal axes of the luminance that rises to and above the level so determined. Then, the width 13 of the welding trace determined by the degree projection 11 in the horizontal axis is made the feature level, as is the degree (area) of the luminance to and above the level in the formation position of the welding trace 9, thereby discriminating the normal/defective condition of the welding trace 9.
